Short description: The department of "Standardization and Metrology" is a structural division of USTU. Metrology is the science of measurements, methods and means of maintenance of their unity and ways to achieve the accuracy demanded. Standardization is the process of developing and implementing technical standards among competing entities in a market where this will bring benefits without hurting competition.

Your future professional skills: Engineers of the speciality “Standardization and Metrology” are engaged in metrological support of working out and manufacture of various kinds of industrial outputs, carry out developing, implementation and certification of new methods and measuring instruments. They also maintain and repair measuring instruments, the measuring and test equipment at the enterprises, plan measurements and processing of their results, test quality of production and technological process as a whole, watch application of metrological standards and rules at the enterprise. Graduates go for work to the state and departmental bodies of metrological control and supervision, in test and metrological divisions of the organisations and the enterprises of all industries.

Career options: The department trains highly qualified specialists working at the leading enterprises of Russia, engaged in the field of metrology and metrological equipment. Graduates from the given speciality find jobs as quality managers, engineers on standardization and certification at the enterprises of various forms of ownerships, in bodies on certification of production, processes and services. 

Internship: Students pass industrial practices (internships) and educational practices in drilling, oil and gas enterprises, companies carried metrological work, research institutes, as well as in laboratories and university departments.
